FCT PDP ASKS NWODO TO DISSOLVE EXECUTIVE

By NBF News

The members asked the party's national chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo to appoint interim officers at all levels to run the affairs of the party pending when  the new executive will be in place.

In a petition to the National Working Committee of the party, the protesting members said the executive committee members have no reason to remain in office as their tenure has expired in accordance with Article 14 (1) of the PDP constitution.

They urged the national secretariat to put in place interim officials who should administer the party pending when a fresh congress will be organised in which candidates from the six geo-political zones of the country will be allowed to contest party offices.

The protesting members also faulted the composition of the party's executive as it violates Article 16 (1) of the PDP amended constitution that stipulates that party officers in the FCT shall be elected based on geo-political zones.

Receiving the aggrieved members, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo assured that the PDP national leadership will look into their grievances and take appropriate steps. He, however, advised them to remain calm, saying that the party will listen to both sides in the dispute in order to ensure justice and fair hearing.
