The Kano State Police Command has uncovered plots by some miscreants to instigate crisis over the emirship tussle in the State.

The command said credible intelligence report at its disposal indicated that the unscrupulous elements are planning to unleash terror at some targeted places in the city.

While addressing journalists at the command headquarters on Sunday night, the State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, said the places targeted for the planned attacks include state assembly complex.

Other places targeted, according to the commissioner include the residence of the Majority Leader, Kano House of Assembly, house of the member representing Gwale constituency and other places.

He however stated that the police and sister security agencies have perfected plans to embark on serious patrols as well as detection, particularly on locations where the command was informed by the credible intelligence that “the enemies of the state are hiding.”

He said the security agencies would deal ruthlessly with anybody found to be causing crisis in the state.

“We want to tell you that we have uncovered credible intelligence about some group of people who are considered as enemies of the state, who are trying to unleash terror in the state.

“They have targeted attacks at locations particularly the House of Assembly as well as some prominent locations within the state capital. This intelligence report had been verified by so many sources.

“You are aware that during the last press conference, we have mentioned that everybody who want to test the ground the security agencies in the capacity will deal ruthlessly with those enemies of the state.

“So tonight I am informing you that we have perfected plans to embark on serious patrols as well as detection, particularly on locations where the command was informed by the credible intelligence that the enemies of the state are hiding. There is no hiding place for them. We have our eyes, we have our ears,” he said.

It was recalled that crisis broke out barely a day after the state governor, Abba Yusuf, signed Kano State Emirates Council (Amendment number 2) Bill, 2024 after it was passed by the state’s House of Assembly on Wednesday.

The law dissolved all the five emirates created by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll after reverting the institution to one single emirate.
