At least six students of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo State, have been arrested by the police over the brutal murder of their colleague, identified as Alex Timileyin.

It was learnt that the arrested students attacked Alex after they allegedly caught him with a missing iPhone 12 Pro Max on Friday night, May 24, 2024.

The students, who are residents of Shepherd’s Inn hostel, stripped the deceased, shaved his head and gang beat him from 10 pm on Friday to 6 am on Saturday.

He was later abandoned in the rain, where he sadly passed away.

Alex, a 200-level Engineering student, was found dead in front of the hostel on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, the varsity management confirmed the incident in a statement by Femi Atoyebi.

The statement said the students suspected of having taken part in the alleged crime have been expelled and handed over to the police for prosecution.

Atoyebi said, “Contrary to what is trending, the university affirms that there is no cultism in the institution, just as the university has zero tolerance for any sort of anti-societal vices and misconduct.

“It is important to stress that the expelled students do not belong to any cult group.”
