The Command's spokesperson, ASP Kenneth Daso, confirmed the incident to a correspondent with Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad area on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the state capital.

"We received a distress call today that one of our officers, Superintendent Sunday Pius, a Divisional Police Officer in charge of New Marte was killed by terrorists last Monday evening.
