UNIOSUN Debunks Kidnapping, Assault, Murder On University Campuses

The Management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has debunked information of incidents of kidnapping, sexual assault and murder in its campuses.

The institution’s management denied the rumours disseminated through a viral audio message, describing the purported incidents as false, mischievous and without foundation

The UNIOSUN spokesperson, Ademola Adesoji, in a statement on Sunday, revealed that the university have put in place a robust security measures to protect its students, staff and visitors.

Adesoji, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to safety, revealed that no repeated case of security breach has been made in the campuses.

He also assured parents, staff, students and all UNIOSUN stakeholders that the university have taken necessary measures to maintain security.

“We assure all parents, staff, students, and stakeholders that we are taking all necessary measures to maintain security. There have been no reported cases of kidnapping, rape, or murder on university premises.

“While we understand that such rumours can cause concern, we want to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our university community are our top priorities. There is no case of robbery or banditry in our Osogbo Campus.

“Our security team is extensively trained and works in close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, including the police, Amotekun, DSS, and civil defense forces.

“These security personnel regularly patrol the university campus, halls of residence, and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and secure environment,” he stated.

He also urged the university community to avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
