A Nigerian terrorist kingpin, Kachallah Mai Daji, has reportedly been captured by the Niger Republic Armed Forces (FAN).

A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad basin, Zagazola Makama, said Mai Daji was captured at Illela near the border between Nigeria and the Niger Republic when he tried to rustle livestock through the country’s border.

He has reportedly killed dozens of people, burnt down villages, kidnapped hundreds of people and imposed levies on villages for almost 10 years.

“Mai Daji was known for terrorising the people around the North East of Illela including Tozai, Sabon Garin Darna, Darna Tsolawo, Tudun Gudali, Basanta, Ɗan Kadu, Takalmawa, Gidan Hamma, Ambarura, Gidan Bulutu and many other surrounding villages,” Makama said.
