Officers of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Isokoko Division of Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected fraudsters identified as Seyi Demola, 26, and Wale Lawson, 27, following a distress call.

The command's spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on X.com on Saturday.

He wrote, "These suspected fraudsters, Seyi Demola aged 26 and Wale Lawson aged 27, were arrested by officers from Isokoko Division following a distress call.

"They were found with two female handbags, cash and an iPhone."

Hundeyin added that a preliminary investigation revealed that the men were responsible for defrauding multiple victims.

He added, "Preliminary investigation reveals that many people have fallen victim to their scheme. Investigation is ongoing."

In an accompanying video, a lady recounted how she almost fell victim to their scheme.

She explained that one of the suspects, who claimed to be a prophet approached her. He then told her and his accomplice, who pretended to be seeking help from the 'prophet', to pray for each other with the sachet of water he instructed her to buy.

"He said the man should pray with the water for me and give me his bag to hold. Then he said it was my turn to pray for the man, so I should give him my bag. That was how they collected my bag and everything from me," she said.

The lady further narrated that she was told to call out her phone's password while praying, claiming it would be used to receive favour.

She added that the suspects also told her not to look back unless she would "become Lot's wife in the Bible."

They were about absconding when people around stopped them and that was when she realized that the suspects knew each other.
