No fewer than five persons have reportedly feared dead after a fuel tanker fell and exploded along the Warri-Sapele road in Delta State.

It was learnt that the fuel tanker fell and exploded on Friday morning near Ometan junction, along the dilapidated ever-busy Warri-Sapele road.

According to reports, a mother and a child were among those who died when the fuel-laden tanker lost control and fell, spilling its content on the road, before exploding.

Houses and businesses were burnt as a result of the fuel tanker explosion. Meanwhile, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the State has visited the scene of the incident.

This came barely a week after five people were confirmed dead and over 70 cars burnt when a tanker exploded at the Eleme section of the East-West Road in Rivers State on last Friday night.

It was also recalled that another gas explosion occured at Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The explosion from a solitary gas truck, which rippled through the community, resulted in the loss of life and property.
