Catarat Surgery Beneficiaries Laud Kunie Health For Restoring Their Sights.

Beneficiaries of free Cataract Surgery project sponsored by the United States of America (U.S.A.) based Kunie Health are full of appreciation for the healthcare charity.

Kunie Health initiative is a non governmental organisation (NGO) that specialises in free healthcare advisory support and wellness advocacy.

Septuagenarian, Josephat Nwozo and 20-year-old, Chidera Ekenta were among the beneficiaries who commended Kunie Health for sponsoring the free eye surgery program that has restored their sights and gave them opportunity to read and write again.

Mr. Nwozo hails from Ugwuoba in Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State while Ekenta is from Nsukka also in Enugu State. They were among over 250 participants in the Kunie Health outreach program held at Ozom Hall, Urunnebo, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State on December 16, 2023. Thanking Kunie for financing the restoration of their sights, they prayed to God to bless Kunie Health sponsors.

"Before I underwent the cataract surgery," Nwozo disclosed, "I could not see at all but now I can see very well and read written things with my medicated glasses."

Mr Nwozo's daughter, Kosisochukwu, confirmed the development and poured encomium on Kunie Health for coming to the aide of their family in their time of dire need. She informed that the family was challenged and very worried over how to raise funds for her father's surgery before the opportunity came through Kunie and they took advantage of it. She expressed the family's joy and gratitude to Kunie that their father can now see better.

On his part, the young man, Ekenta, expressed gratitude to Kunie Health for rescuing his sight through the cataract surgery, stating that his joy has known no bounds since the successful exercise which has ensured that he now sees better.

The free cataract Surgery sponsored by Kunie Health was carried out by a team of eye care specialists led by a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon, Dr. Arinze Obinna in Enugu State, Nigeria.

Speaking after the surgeries, Dr Arinze Obinna said that Mr Nwozo's eye sight has been substantially restored after the surgery. According to him, Mr Nwozo's surgery was very successful. Prior to the surgery, the septuagenarian could barely see and needed help to walk around but after the exercise, he now walks about unaided.

On the other hand, Mr Ekenta's case was more complicated because he had his traumatic cataract on the left eye which has now been substantially restored.

Dr Arinze commended Kunie Health for committing enormous resources in sponsorship of the medical outreach programs and the surgeries which, according to him, has delivered significant benefits to many of the patients.

Dr Arinze explained that those who attended the Kunie Health outreach events, got free consultations with the doctors through which most of them, for the first time discovered that they are diabetic or even prone to high blood pressures, and also received essential tips on how to manage their healths better.

Also speaking on the success of the surgeries, Kunie Health promoter and sponsor, Chigozie Ozumba, a healthcare practitioner based in Houston, U.S.A., said that it gives him a sense of personnal fulfillment and gratitude to witness the radiance of joy and excitement of the beneficiaries as they renewed their eye sights. Ozumba explained that the ongoing free surgeries on selected patients such as the one held during Kunie's December outreach is a testament to the commitment of the NGO to fulfilling it's obligations and ensuring that healthcare assistance gets to persons who do not have the means to access essential treatments in interior communities. He recalled that the last Outreach was done in memory of his father, Pa Emmanuel Ozumba, and assured that more beneficiaries will access the free surgeries and treatments sponsored by Kunie in coming months.
