Stakeholders Highlight States2states Achievements In Ebonyi

The USAID Nigeria State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity has held its Quarterly Public Financial Management Round table dialogue in Ebonyi State.

At the brainstorming session, Managers of various Ministries, Boards and parastatals in Ebonyi State attested to the positive impact that the State2State Activity had on their performances during the period under review.

In her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Budgeting, Mrs Williamson Mfon said that her Ministry was able to know its stand and this made them to have an improvement on its Budgeting and Budget implementation

Mfon assured State2State that in the areas that enough was not achieved, the Ministry will in the 3rd quarter improve on thier activities, block all the noted loopholes and timelines in order to have better Performances.

Also testifying the Auditor General in Ebonyi State, Dr Samuel Udu maintained that the State2State activity has made them to know the importance of the preparation of timely reports, Financial statements including the timely Auditor Generals' report which were to be looked into within 90days of submission before submitting the same to the State House of Assembly for ratification.

On Debt Management in Ebonyi State, the Director of Debt Management Department, Mrs Elizabeth Anyigor said that the activities of State2State in Ebonyi State has helped her department to have adequate and precise debt reconciliation both externally and on the domestic stand.

On the educational sector, Dr Livinus Ezeuwa, the Secretary of the Universal Basic Educatiion Board in Ebonyi State was affirmmed that the State2State activity in Ebonyi State has helped them in the Board on how to package Programmes needed at educatiional sector.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Team Leader of State2State acttivity, Dr Sam Onyia informed the participants that hence the 2nd quarter of the present year ended in March, the dialogue became necessary so as to evaluate the performances of the Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies where the USAID State2State have interventions.

Reviewing the performances of the State2State Public Financial Management for the quarter, the Specialist in Public Financial Management, Mr. Chibueze Nwonye, mentioned the areas where success were recorded to include the completion of the 2024 Cash plan for the State, the improved commitment from the State organs but lamented that punctuality to event and outdated software which were no more compatible with the approved template were some of the setbacks.
