The acting deputy commandant general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Helen Amakiri, is dead.

NSCDC made this known in a statement released on Tuesday.

It was learnt that Amakiri, who was in charge of critical national assets and infrastructure in NSCDC, died in the early hours of Tuesday after a brief illness.

NSCDC commandant general Ahmed Audi said the demise of Amakiri was a loss to the civil defence.

He added that Amakiri was an exceptionally outstanding officer and a gallant and erudite senior management staff member.

“Acting DCG Amakiri was in charge of CNAI, a position she held with utmost dedication and effective service delivery before her sudden demise,” he said.

Audi commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased, praying that the Almighty God would grant the repose of her soul.

The statement indicated that Ms Amakiri, born in 1966, was enlisted into the NSCDC as a commissioned officer in 2004 and rose through the ranks, largely due to her dedication to duty and excellent academic achievements.
