The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all the sixteen chairmanship seats in the local government election conducted on Saturday in Taraba State.

The chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr Philip Duwe, who declared the election result on Sunday, declared that PDP won the chairmanship seats in all the 16 local government areas of the state.

He described the state election as free, fair and peaceful in all the voting units in the state.

In a related development, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Gombe State, yesterday threatened to sue the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC) over its failure to conduct elections for the 11 local government councils.

A letter addressed to the chairman of the commission signed by the state chapter chairman of IPAC, Muhammed Sulaiman Kumo and 17 others, gave the commission a one-week ultimatum to conduct the election or risk legal action.

Kumo, who is also the Chairman of National Rescue Movement (NRM), decried that GOSIEC refused to release a timetable for the election, less than 37 days to the expiration of the tenure of the present caretaker committee of the 11 local government councils of the state.
