Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Crashes In Niger State

A helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has crashed around Chukuba village in Niger State.

NAF authorities confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, said the MI-171 Helicopter was on a casualty evacuation mission, before it crashed at at about 1p.m., near Chukuba village.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the aircraft had departed Zungeru Primary School en route to Kaduna.

He said efforts were currently ongoing to rescue the crew and passengers on board the helicopter, while adding that preliminary investigations has commenced to determine the probable cause of the crash.
