AHRC Wishes All Americans A Happy Fourth oF July

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its warm wishes to all Americans for a safe and pleasant Independence Day holiday. Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th.

Independence Day is a day to celebrate the American Creed that is enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Many erroneously think these words are found in the US Constitution. While these words do not have legal weight, they do have great moral weight.

In his I have a Dream speech, Dr. Martin Luther King, quoting the Declaration, stated: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.” While the nation has often fell short of its vision of itself, we continue to make progress to make these promises a reality for all Americans.

AHRC invites everyone to mark this day as an occasion to celebrate our rich diversity, the values on unity, tolerance, inclusion, coexistence and mutual respect.

"The Fourth of July is a holiday that we joyfully celebrate with friends and family,” said Imad Hamad. “It should also be an opportunity to renew our commitment to the promises and the values enshrined in the Declaration of Independence,” added Hamad.
