DUFUHS Restates Commitment To Reverse Medical Tourism, Build University In Line With International Best Practices:

The Vice - Chancellor, David Umahi federal university of Health sciences, Uburu, Ebonyi state, Prof. Jesse Uneke has reiterated the mission of the institution to reverse medical tourism and build a university that can compete with other universities abroad in line with international best practices.

He announced that the students population of the university has moved from 54 to 700 within a space of less than two years and described it as an unprecedented milestone achievement of the management and staff.

Prof. Uneke made this known in his address during the 2nd matriculation/ open day for the 2022/2023 academic session at university matriculation hall,Uburu in Ebonyi state.

He urged the students to have it at the back of their hearts that their parents paid dearly for them to be there, stressing that the university has zero tolerance for indiscipline and anti - social behavior and if found guilty, the full weight of the sanction will fall on the person.

The Vice Chancellor charged the students to ensure that they strictly abide by the rules and regulations, reminding them that the university also has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism and theft.

He announced that mechanism has been put in place for every lecturer to be in class at the time he is supposed to in order to make sure that there is stability in academic activities and avoid disruption.

He added that the university has provided conducive environment for effective teaching and learning in that their students live inside the campus and assured that security of lives and property is guaranteed.

"All our first year courses are computer based and our students get their results within sixty seconds. All the financial transaction of the university has been digitalized and online.

"We have exposed our students to research early to grant them access to data basis meaning that before one graduates he must have had access to three hundred electronic textbooks.

" There is restriction of movement of students out of the university. If one leaves the school without authorization, he will face penalty ranging from suspension to rustication.

We have also put mechanism in place to ensure that facilities are maintained.
