Film Institute Trains Katsina Youths In Commercial Photography

JOS, August 12, (THEWILL) - The National Film Institute, Jos, Plateau State has kick-started a partnership arrangement aimed at providing qualitative hands on equipment training in Still Photography and motion picture for the teeming youths of Katsina State as part of the Youth Empowerment Programme of the administration of Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema.

The first leg of the training programme got under way at the Katsina State Youth Craft Village, Katsina, last week with the commissioning of the photograph and film production facilities and the commencement of the training session by Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema of Katsina State, who charged beneficiaries of the training programme to justify government’s investment by taking advantage of the Skill empowerment programme with a view to addressing the human resource/ self empowerment strategies of the Katsina State government.


Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Mr. Afolabi Adesanya commended the government of Katsina State for embarking on the empowerment-training programme on film and video for the youths of Katsina State.


He said the objectives of the training programme includes harnessing the potentials of film and video within Katsina State and its environs, empowering the youths of Katsina State, with wealth creation skills and employable skills, as well as enhancing the strata of indigenes of Katsina State with veritable a medium for the promotion of their cultures and values.

The opening ceremony/commissioning was attended by senior government and legislative officials, local government chairmen, first class traditional rulers, students, community leaders, which included His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman the Emir of Katsina, and the Grand khadi of Katsina State, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu Danmusa.
