Thanking God That Trending News About Sweden Integrating Sex Championship Into Sports Is Fake

By Isaac Asabor

If there is an area of incongruity between the culture of the Swedish and that of Nigerians, it is undeniably in the area of sex as it is practically impossible for two opposite sex to publicly make love in Nigeria given the fact that it is a taboo whereas in Sweden it is handily probable to do so as her culture seems to allow that given trending reports in global media that she has officially recognized sex as a sport and finalized preparations for the inaugural sex tournament, set to commence on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

However, contrary to earlier news reports, news gathered through the utilization of the Google search engine by this writer shows that there is a twist in the tale as not a fewnewspapers published across the globe had earlier in April 2023 reported that while such a competition was proposed, the idea was turned down.

Against the foregoing backdrop, it is expedient to ask, “Is the report fake or true?” In the attempt to answer the foregoing question, it is expedient to make reference to a news report published in Göteborg-Posten, a news portal based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Riksidrottsförbundet (RF – the Swedish Sports Confederation), the umbrella organization tasked with supporting and developing sports in Sweden, had issued a clarification in April that the application by Swedish Sex Federation had been rejected as it was incomplete and did not meet certain requirements.

In fact, as also gathered from Firstpost, an Indian news website about the proposal for competitive sex, “The sex championship is not simply a figment of imagination. There was a proposal to hold an event for competitive sex.

“The idea came from the owner of the Swedish Sex Federation, which according to its website trains and awards people who “compete in sex”. Dragan Bratic, the man who formed this body, wants sex to be classified as a sport. The owner of several strip clubs in the country’s Jönköping area, Bractic applied to enroll the association as a member of the country’s National Sports Confederation in January this year.

“Bratic wants people to train in sex. He called for a championship to be held, highlighting the physical and mental impact of sex on human beings, reports NDTV quoting the Swedish publication Goterborgs-Posten.

“We are registered, have an organization number and it’s perfectly okay to train and compete in sex, then it’s a sport like any other,” Bratic told another media outlet P4 Jönköping.

“However, the National Sports Confederation rejected the application in April 2023 as it was not complete. BjörnEriksson, who was then the chief of the sports body, was clear that sex was not part of the business. “It [The application] doesn’t meet our requirements and I can inform you that this application has been rejected. We have other things to do,” said Eriksson”.

Given the foregoing backdrop, it will not be out of place to conjecture that some readers of this piece may find it difficult to grasp the rationale behind the expression of this view as the subject of this piece emanated from Sweden which is thousands of kilometers away from Nigeria. As gathered, “Distance from Nigeria to Sweden is 5,725 kilometers. This air travel distance is equal to 3,557 miles. The air travel (bird fly) shortest distance between Nigeria and Sweden is 5,725 km= 3,557 miles.

Personally, as a Nigerian, who understands how fast cultures and disgusting practices are easily replicated as the world is by each passing day shrinking into a global village by virtue of the unprecedented development in Information and Communication and Technologies (ICT), there is a need to be worried as Sweden is about to start what humanity will live to regret as it is possible that the advocacy will one day sail through when its advocates continue to push for it after all same-sex marriage is subtly gaining grounds in certain developed countries.

Finally, more worrisome pertaining to the issue is that the Nigerian “Japa” syndrome is fast escalating. A recent survey from the Nigeria Social Cohesion Survey revealed that seven out of 10 Nigerians are willing to relocate to other countries for various reasons, with a good number of them recording success. Today, there is still an increasing rate of intent to leave the country by the old and the young. Currently, the net Nigeria migration rate is -0.273 per 1000 population, indicating that more people are emigrating from the country. It is depressing that Nigeria is currently sinking deep into a brain drain, and it probably needs a call for an emergency.

As it is said, “A man’s right lies in his confidence and personality which is greatly nurtured by his culture”, meaning that man is essentially the product of his culture. The reason for the foregoing fact cannot be farfetched as culture beats and molds a person into a particular shape. Culture makes one think, speak, dance, and behave in a particular manner. It’s culture that makes one Kanuri, Jukun, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Alago, Tiv, etc.

In my view, as long as Sweden is a sovereign state that has the right to choose what it deems to be right for her citizen, Nigeria, and other countries should through diplomacy at the supranational level like on the platform of the United Nations (UN) call Sweden to order as Africans do not engage in sexual activities in the public, and at the same begin to call on their citizens to guard against westernization and protect their own culture.

Be that as it may, there is a good reason to thank God that the trending news about Sweden adopting Sex Championship into its sports is fake
