Associate Professor Coker Becomes President of Nigerian Institute of Physics

Joseph Olakunle Coker, an associate professor, has been elected as the new president of the Nigerian Institute of Physics. The institute is the national body that is in charge of all affairs of physicists and the development of physics in Nigeria.

A fellow of the institute, Coker was elected unanimously at the 44th Annual Conference of the Institute, held at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, Ikorodu.

The conference held from 8th to 12th May, 2023.
Associate Professor Coker is a Geophysicist at Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

He joined the institute in 1995 and has served at different positions in the NIP Council over the years. Before his election as the President, he was the Financial Secretary of the institute.

Prof. Fatimo Koki of Bayero University, Kano was returned as the Vice President during the elections.

Meanwhile, Bayero University, Kano, has been selected as the venue of 45th Annual Conference and will take place in November, 2023.
