Niger Delta Youth Coalition (NDYC) has thrown its weight behind the Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the controversial Naira Swap, saying the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari does not have the legal impetus to overrule the position of the Supreme Court.

National Coordinator of NYDC, Prince Emmanuel Ogba who announced the stand of the group in Port Harcourt, Saturday, said El-Rufai was right to have directed the banking Institutions, the people and corporate organizations in Kaduna to obey the ruling of the Supreme Court which declares not only the N200 note, but N500 and N1,000 notes as legal tenders.

(Ogba said; “we hail the boldness of the Kaduna State Governor on the Naira Swap. It shows that the milk of human tenderness runs in his blood.

“We are disappointed in President Buhari’s high handedness and illegal stand against the Nigerian masess who have seen so much sufferings throughout the present administration”.

Ogba who noted that the Supreme Court remains the last voice on any legal matter in the country said that President Buhari could not teach the citizens otherwise.

He urged other governors to align with the Kaduna State Governor and direct the people of their States, banks and corporate organizations to continue to use the old naira notes as ordered by the highest court in the land.

Describing the action of President Buhari as unfortunate and an attempt to apply Military Fiat as common under the Military instead of the rule of law as obtains in a democracy.

He urged the National Assembly, the Judiciary, States and local government areas to rise up in defense of the nation’s hard earned democracy.
