AHRC Calls For Immediate Aid To Earthquake Victims In Turkey And Syria:

By American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA)

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) calls upon the international community and the United Nations to accelerate humanitarian aid and rescue efforts to the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

The recent earthquake claimed thousands of innocent lives as well as thousands injured beside the huge devastation and destruction that it caused. It’s a real tragedy whose magnitude is not yet fully known.

The destruction caused by the earthquake amidst winter and severe cold weather mandates immediate help. AHRC commends countries that rushed assistance to the earthquake locations and began their operations around the clock trying to rescue those who are trapped under the rubble. Thousands of people are still trapped and time is of the essence or more lives would be lost.

AHRC calls on the international community to send rescue teams to Syria in particular, a country that was torn by war and lacks the adequate tools and machines to help save those who are trapped under the rubble.

AHRC stresses that aiding the victims of the earthquake victims anywhere in Syria is equally important to saving lives anywhere in Turkey and all other areas impacted by the earthquake.

The Civil Defense teams in Syria are desperately calling for immediate help as they have been working tirelessly trying to save as many victims with basic tools and rescue instruments. We urge that all needed assistance be sent to Syria and Turkey without hesitation.

“Human lives are human lives and rescue missions should not be hostage to political agendas and political differences,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “This is solely humanitarian and it’s the world’s collective duty to help save innocent lives,” added Hamad. “This is the time for all of us to show our humanity,” concluded Hamad.
