FRSC Issues Warning To Motorcyclists Over Dangerous Driving, Over-speeding

The Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has warned commercial motorcyclists better referred to as ‘Okada’ against all forms of dangerous driving and over-speeding.

The state FRSC also noted that desisting from over-speeding could prevent death and severe injuries arising from accidents.

Paul Okpe, the Osun FRSC Sector Commander, gave this warning on the sideline of the roadshow organised by the command on safety tips for commercial motorcyclists on Friday in Osogbo.

Okpe, who urged the commercial motorcyclists to discard intoxicating substances to ensure accidents are averted before, during and after the ember months, added that there was a need for safety consciousness on highways.

He further stated that the command had concluded plans to ensure that commercial motorcyclists obeyed the road traffic regulations especially during and after the ember months.

He said, “The command is partnering with the motorcycle company to further help mobilise the entire Okada riders on road and sensitise them.

“The command would not relent in ensuring that the state records zero accident tolerance with a reduction in the accident rate.

“I charge road users to join hands with the command during and after the ember months as safety is a shared responsibility.”
