Corruption: ‘PDP Chairman Iyorchia Ayu Building New University In Benue’ – Gov Wike Declares
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has continued to drag the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, to accuse him of building a private university in Benue State within one year in office.
Wike challenged Ayu to sue him insisting that the PDP Chairman is corrupt and lacked the moral rectitude to lead him and Rivers people to any campaign.
He said Ayu took N1 billion, N100 million, and the money the PDP raised during primaries and wondering what he would do if he entered office.
Wike spoke when he led the G5 governors to flag-off the Rivers PDP campaign for 2023.
Ayu Must Go! Oyo Governor Makinde Vows To Stick With Team Wike
Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has vowed he would not work for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku should Sen. Iyorchia Ayu remains national chairman of the party.
Makinde declared this while featuring on Southwest Political Circuit, a popular programme on Fresh 105.9 FM Ibadan on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
In a veiled answer to a question on whether he would work for Atiku should Ayu remain the national chairman, Makinde said he would only work for PDP candidates from Oyo State in 2023 if the status quo remains.
When reminded the presidential election comes together with that of National Assembly, the Governor assured that voters are more politically conscious than before, stressing that they vote for candidates of their choice when necessary.
Makinde, who is a staunch member of the Governor Nyesom Wike’s group of five Governors, explained they would not back down from the demand that a southerner must be allowed to occupy the position of national chairman of the party.
He said: “The Governors of southern Nigeria came together across party lines to say power should return to the South in 2023.
“For peace, equity, justice, progress, and fairness, we asked that after eight years of presidency in the North, let it come to the South for inclusivity. Taking into cognizance the unity of this country and for people of the South to feel the inclusiveness here, we did that.
“We got to our own presidential convention, my party chose a northerner as its candidate. We said fair enough, commit to few things. Commit that positions will be spread across the geo-political zones.
“If my party selects a northern candidate and we are saying do some things and if they are not listening to us, we will focus on winning our elections in Oyo State. I, Seyi Makinde, will not stay in my comfort zone, if the needful is not done. I am not a slave in this country but we still have the time.
“We will score 100 per cent in Oyo State. The people have made up their minds to vote for us because they have tasted several governments in Oyo State.
“Oyo State people will not vote to be in slavery because lean freedom is better than fat slavery.”
PDP Crisis: ‘You Can’t Stop Ortom’ – Wike Rehashes Corruption Charges On Ayu
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has taken a swipe at the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, over his statement against Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Ayu had said he had the power to stop Ortom and others from contesting the 2023 elections.
But Wike, while briefing newsmen at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 30, 2022, said Ayu lacks integrity, describing him as corrupt.
“I dare the National Chairman to stop any contestant if he has what it takes. It is in this country where you say a man is very corrupt and he is trying to talk,” Wike said.
