A controversial former presidential aspirant, Mr Adamu Garba, has asked the Nigerian Government to rename University of Nigeria, Nsukka after the Queen Elizabeth lI.

The APC chieftain made this statement on Thursday night following the the passage of Queen Elizabeth lI.

The Nigerian Voice had reported that the Queen whose seven decades on the throne of the United Kingdom was the second longest reign in British monarch died on Thursday afternoon at Balmoral Castle, her estate in the Scottish Highlands.

Pained by her Majesty's death, Adamu Garba in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter page, said Nigerians should immortalise the demised Queen of England in order to honour her.

His tweets read, “If I’m the President of Nigeria today, I’ll declare 3 days of National Mourning for the death of The Queen Elizabeth II of England.

“In order to immortalized(sic) Queen Elizabeth, we should rename the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to Queen Elizabeth University of Nigeria since it is the first University in Nigeria(sic).

“Immortalizing Queen Elizabeth by renaming the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in her honor would've been an easier deal if I were communicating with our grandparents. Fortunately, they knew her worth.

“Age is a grace, & 7 decades on the Throne can only be the work of God and Grace.’’
