NO REASON TO BRIBE OGOGA ON COLLEGE OF EDUCATION – EKITI GOVT.
Ekiti State Government has described as wicked and malicious, the rumour making rounds that the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adegboyega Akayejo was bribed by the State Government with millions of naira to support the relocation of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.
Chief Press Secretary to the State governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement issued today that the rumour was the handiwork of a few reactionary elements, who have vowed to make sure that Ikere in particular and Ekiti State in general are held down to justify their failed ambition.
He said the government has no reason whatsoever to engage such a shameful and criminal act of bribing a monarch or anyone on the College of Education issue.
“That this people have chosen to use Ikere-Ekiti as their launch pad for the avowed ambition of destabilising and truncating the educational advancement and progress of Ekiti State is unfortunate.
“However, we wish to state equivocally that the State Government has never engaged in offering gratifications to any individual or group for whatever purpose.
“It is not in the behavioural pattern of the Segun Oni-led government to offer bribe to anyone. We did not and we can never offer bribe to the Ogoga or any other person whatsoever in respect of the College of Education and any other matters relating to the advancement of our developmental plans for the State.
“It is also pertinent to state that the issue of the College of Education will be resolved soon in line with the demand of majority of the Ikere people.
