Nigeria Needs True Security Federalism

Source: Anthony C. Konwea, PhD, P.E.

A few hours ago, terrorists walked into a Catholic Church in Ondo State of Nigeria and opened fire, killing scores of worshippers, and some reports suggest, kidnapping many others. It is a horrific, despicable, act of terrorism that warrants unanimous and universal condemnation.

But condemnation without far-reaching, pre-emptive action to prevent future re-occurrence will never suffice. Not only must drastic, far-reaching, measures be taken immediately to better secure Nigerians, the whole world must insist that it be done, using universal best practices.

In Nigeria, security, and all progress in general, is routinely sacrificed on the altar of Fulani expansionists' territorial ambitions, conceived, instigated, aided, and abetted by Britain.

The mechanism goes somewhat like this.
Without control of a unitary system, which is the true meaning of ONE NIGERIA, the Fulani expansionists cannot survive, not to talk of overrunning Nigeria.

So, everything has to be unitarized and centralized, if they must conserve energy by seeking to assume ultimate control of one single entity, which is the center, rather than multiple federating entities, for which they lack the capacity.

That is why control of a unitarist center is a do or die affair for Fulani expansionists. Over their dead bodies will they contemplate seeing a Nigeria that practices True Federalism, be it fiscal, security, political, or otherwise, even if that means that many innocent souls must needlessly perish.

When foolish indigenous Nigerians root for One Nigeria, they do not realize that they are on a suicide mission. They think that One Nigeria simply means one country. What they do not realize is what One Nigeria means to Fulani expansionists and their ultimate backers, Britain. To these two colonialist entities, One Nigeria means a unitarist, centralized, country, under incompetent Fulani expansionists’ command and control.

It is technically impossible to adequately secure a huge nation of 200 million people like Nigeria, from one single central location, modern communications notwithstanding.

To secure Nigeria, you need field security commanders at the local level, knowledgeable of the peculiarities of the local terrain, and fully empowered to take proactive or preemptive security control measures, as they deem fit, without reference to the center or anywhere else besides the State Government.

Imagine the chaos at the security command and control center in Abuja. It is daily inundated with situation reports (sit-reps) coming in from 36 State Commissioners of Police, each awaiting further instructions and directives on how best to respond to evolving security threats in their respective jurisdictions.

Just picture the ensuing chaos and confusion.
Even with a patriotic, well-meaning Central Command, there is bound to be information overload from so many incoming sitreps, each requiring separate threat analysis, and communication of tactical instructions to the respective field commanders.

When a Fulani expansionist is the Commander-in-Chief as is the situation currently, and you factor in their obsession with evaluating whether each security threat enhances or detracts from their overall strategic objective of overrunning Nigeria, what you get is the present security chaos.

Nigerians know what to do to resolve the present, intractable security situation in that country. I and I don't need to spell it out.

Just in case you don't know, it is a comprehensive, complete, root and branch reorganization of the subsisting security architecture.

Nigeria needs to practice Security Federalism, full stop.

The initiative and responsibility for securing Nigeria mustbe devolved from Abuja to the respective State Capitals.

If Nigerians are serious and not playing to the gallery, they will insist vociferously, since “the day before yesterday”, that each State Commissioner of Police mustassume full, complete, and total operational control, as well as full responsibility for the security situation in their state.

This they should do under the sole command of the State Governor, and no one else. Definitely not the redundant Inspector-General of Police in Abuja, or the ever touring and sight-seeing failed President of Nigeria.

To not practice true Security Federalism in Nigeria from this moment onwards, is a crime against humanity. Thewhole world which we are putting on notice, knows who to hold responsible for future breaches of security and the slaughter of the innocent in Nigeria.

How many more innocent Nigerian lives must be needlessly lost before the world communicates firmly and sternly to the failed President of Nigeria, that enough is enough?
