The leading gubernatorial aspirant in the oncoming Ebonyi 2023 gubernatorial election and the member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anayo Peter Edwin-Nwoñu, has condoled with the Permanent Secretary/Secretary of Police Service Commission Abuja, Chief William Alo, over the death of Chief Alo's beloved son, Master Mathew Akachukwu Alo, at the early age of 10. Speaking after the funeral mass celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu, alongside other Catholic clergy honour of the departed at Chief William Alo's country home, Okpokuegbe, in Ekwetekwe/Ogbuinyagu Autonomous Community, Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on 15th January 2022, Edwin-Nwoñu who expressed hearty condolences on behalf of his family and his constituents also sued that Chief Alo and his family as well as all those affected by the tragedy of Late Mathew Akachukwu Alo's early departure should hand over their griefs to God knowing that God reigns in the lives of all human beings; and nothing, including the death of Akachukwu at an early age, could happen without the knowledge of God.

According to the federal legislator, "We are here to pay our last respects to Late Master Mathew Akachukwu Alo; and to express hearty condolences to the family of my leader, brother and the federal permanent secretary and secretary of Police Service Commission, Abuja, Chief William Alo, over the painful departure of our beloved son, Master Mathew Akachukwu Alo, at the age of 10. As mortals, it is not our office to query God. I therefore sue that we hand over our griefs to God who, unassailably, reigns in human lives".

Edwin-Nwoñu who doubles as the Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions prayed "God who reigns in the affairs of man to speak peace to the hearts of all of us who are affected by Akachukwu's tragic death; and to grant eternal rest to the gentle soul of Akachukwu".

Master Mathew Akachukwu Alo died on the 9th of January, 2022 in a domestic accident at the age of 10.

The burial was witnessed by dignitaries from Abuja and Ebonyi State including the immediate past governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi and wife; two former Chief Justices of Ebonyi State, Justices Aloy Nwankwo, FCIArb and Anselm Nwaigwe; former SSG of Ebonyi State and Secretary of Ebonyi Founding Father's Forum, Dr. Boniface Chima; and immediate past SSG of Ebonyi State, Dr. Hyginus Nwokwu. Others are the Chairman of National Parks Commission, Hon. Ben Nwobashi; the Registrar of Ebonyi State University, EBSU, Mrs. Bibian Nwokwu; academics; the business community, royal fathers and more.
