African Securities Exchanges Association's Annual Conference Places Africa's Economic Recovery at the Core of its Debate

The African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), premier Association of Securities Exchanges in Africa, is organizing its 24th annual conference on November 24 and 25 in digital format. Placed under the theme “Financial markets, Key drivers of the African emergence”, this conference will mainly focus on the role of the African financial markets in the economic recovery and growth of the continent through a rich program led by African financial experts. The conference program takes in the intervention of several experts from all over Africa, notably Geoffrey Odundo, Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc, Mohamed Farid Saleh, Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange, Sunil Benimadhu, Chief Executive Officer of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, Temi Popoola, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Exchange, Shameela Soobramoney, Chief Sustainability Officer of Johannesburg Stock Exchange… or even Akin Adigun, Senior Investment Officer of Capital Market at the African Development Bank.

Through various panels, the works and activities of this conference aims to give concrete answers to many strategic questions linked particularly to the development of African financial markets and generally to the economic growth in the continent.

Questions like: How to accelerate Capital Markets Development in Africa? What are the stakes and financing challenges? How to anticipate the future of disruptive technologies? ... are among the questions to be raised and addressed during the first day of the conference, which shall be hosted online by Bourse de Casablanca. Furthermore, the agenda will also include the International Finance Corporation’s report titled: "Listing State-Owned Enterprises in Emerging and Developing Economies - Lessons Learned from 30 Years of Success and Failure".

In the same vein, the second day (November 25th) of the event shall focus on the project aiming to link African stock exchanges in the context of the continent markets integration, blended finance, SMEs finance and impact investing. Last but not least, the second day shall also include a presentation given by the ASEA on its report about the sustainable development.

The moderation of these panels shall be ensured by more than thirty international experts from different countries around the world such as Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
