Four Journalists Abducted In Abia State

UMUAHIA, July 11, (THEWILL) – About eleven gunmen have held four Journalists, who are members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Union of Journalists travelling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State hostage, demanding a ransom of N250 million for their release.


The Journalists were kidnapped today in Abia State while on their way back to their respective stations after attending the National Executive Council meeting of the Union in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.


THEWILL reliably learnt that the abductors have held their victims up till the time of going to press.


Those kidnapped include Chairman, Lagos Council, Mr. Wahab Ojo Oba; the NUJ Zonal Secretary, Mr. Adolphus Okwonkwo; the Acting Secretary of the Lagos Council including the driver of the NUJ vehicle the journalists were travelling in.

The delegates from Ogun, Kwara and Delta States escaped the ordeal by running into a nearby forest.
