Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor Advises Political Organizations

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu has implored political organizations in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area to close ranks and work together towards achieving their desired goal.

Addressing the people of Ikot Abasi in the Council hall, Ikot Abasi, Engr. Ekpotu reaffirmed that the Caretaker Administration and ikot Abasi Democratic Coalition, a socio-political organization are actually working towards the same goal of mobilizing support for the Governor's second term bid come 2011.

The Deputy Governor encouraged the people to join Ikot Abasi Democratic Coalition and if they cannot, they should form other organizations as socio-political organizations are support groups that have a way of stabilizing the polity.

He said due to his excellent performance and commitment to the welfare of Akwa Ibom people, people across the state have endorsed Chief Godswill Akpabio to continue in office till 2015 and that Ikot Abasi people must present one of the leading voices in support of this.

Engr. Ekpotu hinted that plans are in top gear by Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency to treat the Governor to a Grand Reception in the next few weeks and advised stakeholders in Ikot Abasi to close ranks and work together to avoid unnecessary distraction.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman Caretaker Committee, Ikot Abasi Local Government, Elder Archibong Umoh expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu for his intervention in the matter.

He briefed the people on the achievements of his administration in the past six months and restated the avowed commitment of the caretaker administration to continue to give the people of the area a new lease of life and called for support.

Elder Umoh said that the Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio has done well and that his administration is ready to partner groups and organizations working towards the realization of the Governor's second term aspiration.

The Council Boss pledged maximum support and loyalty of the Government and people of Ikot Abasi to the Administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio and wished him a successful re-election in 2011.

Also speaking, the Leader of Ikot Abasi Democratic Coalition and Board Member II in SUBEB, Mr. Michael Sebastine stated the readiness of the organizations to work with the Caretaker Administration and Political gladiators in Ikot Abasi to mobilize support for the Governor's second term ambition.
