Southeast Pdp Congress: Ali Odefa Is Consensus Candidate For Nvc.
The Peoples Democratic Party, P.D.P., has adopted her immediate past Acting Southeast P.D.P. National Vice Chairman, N.V.C., His Excellency, Chief Ali Odefa, as the consensus candidate of the party in the forthcoming Zonal Congress of the party in the Southeast. This resolution was reached in a well-attended Southeast Zonal meeting of the party hosted by the Governor of Enugu State who doubles as the leader of P.D.P. in the Southeast, His Excellency, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, in the Lion Building, Government House, Enugu on Tuesday, 2nd March, 2021 to cap up the party's preparation for Saturday's congress. Chief Ali Odefa became the Acting National Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in the Southeast in the aftermath of the dissolution of the executives of the party at the ward, local government, State and zonal levels in the Southeast by the National Working Committee of the party in November, 2020.
This adoption serves as a vote of confidence on Chief Ali Odefa who has made sincere and spirited efforts through the party administration to unite and strengthen the party in the Southeast in the few months he held sway. The result of the Ali Odefa-led P.D.P. administration's efforts is the cohesion witnessed in the party and unity among the leaders and members of the party in the Southeast, including Anambra State chapter where many bigwigs who had left the party in anger have returned. All these have put the party in a better shape in her quest to reclaim lost states in the geopolitical zone.
The Tuesday meeting in Enugu wherein the resolution to adopt Ali Odefa as consensus candidate for the exalted position was reached was attended by the Governors of Enugu and Abia States, Their Excellencies, Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; former Governors Sam Egwu who is currently a serving senator of Ebonyi State; Peter Obi of Anambra State; and Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State. Others included senators Uche Ekwunife, Obinna Ogba, other National Assembly members and some members of the respective state legislatures in the Southeast as well as statesmen, elders and stalwarts of Peoples Democratic Party in the Southeast region.
The Peoples Democratic Party, P.D.P. has scheduled her Southeast Zonal Congress to hold at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, on Saturday, 6th March, 2021.
