Police Arraign Iron Scrap Dealers For Stealing Cars

The Osun State Police Command, Osogbo arraigned two scrap dealers, Salami Kabiru and Kasali Kolawole at a magistrate court in Osogbo for stealing cars.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Razaq told the court that the accused persons committed the offense at Atelewo area of Osogbo.

Olayiwola said that the accused persons stole one Peugeot 406 car with registration number KSF 439 EV and one AUDI Car with Registration number SAP 494 AA, all valued N1,850,000 ( One million eight hundred and fifty thousand naira), properties of Lawal Isiaka and Adetunji Taiwo respectively.

He added that the accused persons did maliciously damaged one AUDI car valued N 650,000 and unlawfully be in possession of the car Known to have been stolen.

He stated that the offense committed by the accused persons was contrary to and punishable under Section 516, 390(9), 451 and 430(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria, 2002.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offense leveled against them. The two told the court that they hail from Osogbo.

The Defense Counsel, Okobe Najite applied for the bail of the accused persons in the most liberal terms.

The prosecutor opposed the bail of the accused persons, saying granting them bail is like sending bad signal to the society and if granted bail, they will surely jump bail.

The Magistrate, Opeyemi Badmus admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N 500,000 with 2 sureties each in like sum. The case was adjourned till 10th of September, 2020.
