August 7: Our Plans are About God

By Bassey Ekong

At its essence, future plans are not about us. They’re about God. Proverb 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” True dreams are not a human invention. They’re about the desires God imparts to us. His purpose was established well before we had any plans for our lives. We were meant to consult God to find out His purpose for us so we can make the right plans.

Ecclesiastes 3:14 says, “I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere Him. “Let’s review the following facts: Purpose is the source of your desire. Your purpose existed before you did (form follows function). What you were born to do was accomplished by God before you even arrived on the scene, and He ordained your birth in order to carry it out.

We must understand the key to recognizing personal ambitions. You can say, “I don’t know what my plans are. Tell me how to find it.” The answer to a question like this is-to find your passion, you have to look within yourself where God has placed it right inside of you. The key is this: God’s will is as close to us as our most persistent thoughts and desires. Again remember, your plans and success are not in how much education or training or certificates or degrees you have or not have. Education can only help just as much but your desire for success is what you were born with. Note: To find your purpose, you have to look within yourself, where God has put it.

Prayer: Father, I realize that purpose is about You and not about me. My ambition is about fitting into your plan for establishing Your kingdom on earth through me. Lead me into my part of the plan, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
