August 3: Things that Move People

By Bassey Ekong

Many situations in life do always tempt us and put us under pressure to give up prematurely. Some people do resist the tempter in adverse conditions and refuse to quit. The activities of the emptier and wasters are on the increase and do make life a challenging experience for many, especially those without Christ.

Many forces beyond our abilities are working to make us lose our spiritual, physical and material blessings. Ephesians 6:12-18 has a powerful advice for us all and an encouragement for us to resist such powers through prayers.

Philippians 4:13 strengthens the advice from the Ephesians gospel, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Our strength comes from the Lord, Jesus Christ. Anyone who is preparing to win in life must develop and have the right mental attitude. We are the products of our thoughts. “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Prov.23:7). If you think you’re a winner, then you’re a winner but if you think you’re a failure, by all means you’ll fail.

One of the places the enemy builds his stronghold is the minds of his victims. The Scripture has advised us to cast down every negative imagination and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).

Don’t be moved by sight, the things you see or the circumstances around you. Let only the Word of God move you. Your future is not determined by your present situation or circumstances. It’s determined by God’s pre-ordained will concerning you (2 Tim. 1:4). God is able to bring growth and life out of the most unlikely places.

We should stop limiting God by our thinking. Begin to think big for God is able to do all things when you believe so. Note: the ridiculous goes before the miraculous. As you study your Bible and pray without ceasing, God will turn your points of ridicule into streams of miracles. Please claim it, in Jesus’ name.

Let’s pray: Father, let every imagination of destruction against me wither from its source and make the destructive plans of my enemies blow up in their faces. Lord, let all satanic manipulations aimed at reversing my divine destiny be frustrated, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
