JOS, June 28, (THEWILL) - The Police in Plateau State have arrested two men with arms in Yelwa village in Shendam local government of the state.


The two suspects were paraded before newsmen today by the state police Commissioner, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba.


The police chief said the two men are suspected armed robbers. One of the suspects, Mohammed Musa, 28, was said to have been arrested when he had an accident while traveling along the Yelwa –Ibi road in his car.


Unconscious, the police in an effort to rescue the accident victim discovered one arms which include; FNC rifle no 9865363 and its magazine, 73 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunitions, 60 rounds of 7.76mmlive ammunition and one AK 47 magazine. The Police insist the suspect must have been an armed robber on transit.


The second suspect, Gidado Adamu was arrested based on tip off and when a search was conducted on his house, one AK 47 riffle No M56621, with one AK 47 Magazine loaded with seven rounds of 7.76mm live ammunition, a double barrel shot gun, two knives, three Nokia handsets, three torchlight and charms were recovered.


Adamu, the commissioner said has confessed being a leader of a notorious armed robbery gang operating in the state.


The two suspects while speaking with newsmen denied the allegation.
