Covid - 19: Ebonyi Health workers to undergo Compulsory test

In her bid to fight covid - 19 community transmission, Ebonyi state Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe has directed all heath workers in the state to undergo covid 19 test with immediate effect.

The Deputy Governor gave the directive at a meeting with front line health workers at the old Government House, Abakaliki.

He stressed the need on the Health workers to be free from the virus before attending to patients. " some Health workers in recent time have tested positive to Covid 19, therefore we must be sure that our Health workers are safe before giving them the privilege of going to render care to those who are infected " he said.

Dr Igwe also announced that Ministries , Departments and Agencies have commenced one hour prayers on daily basis to seek the face of God for quick recovery of those who have been infected by the the coronvirus especially the Ebonyi State Governor.

He urged Local Government Council chairmen to take full charge of the campaign in their respective councils and ensure deployment of all Health workers to take part in the house to house exercise.

The Deputy Governor gave an assurance that the state task force will not relent in combating the covid 19 even when the governor is temporarily on isolation.

The state Commissioner for Health Dr Daniel Umezurike explained that the planned house to house active case search was as a result of community transmission.

He said one General Hospital has been upgraded in each of the three Senatorial zones of the state to serve as receiving and screening centres where samples will be collected and tested. " if the person tests positive he or she will be taken to treatment, while those who are negative but have other pathologies will be treated in the General Hospital where they were received.
