Pdp Swears In 27 New Lga Chairmen In Imo State

The People's Democratic Party, (PDP) Imo State chapter, yesterday at the state party secretariat in Owerri, sworn-in the recently elected party chairmen across the 27 Local government councils of the state, who were elected in a statewide local government congress conducted by the PDP NEC endorsed committees.

In compliance with the social distancing directives in place, the inauguration was conducted in two batches in strict adherence to the social distancing measures in place.

In his welcome address, the party chairman, Sir Martin Ejiogu, congratulated the newly elected chairmen from the 27 LGA Councils and encouraged them for effective service delivery.

The chairman charged the the newly inaugurated chairmen of the need to go back to their various local governments to work for the party and be on the look out for people within the party who may be working against the party's interests.

He encouraged them to always resort back to the state excos in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking after their swearing-in, the secretary of the party, Hon. Nze Ray Emeana reiterated the position of the party chairman while congratulating them, he strongly restated the need for the newly sworn-in 27 party LG chairmen to carry out their service to the party more effectively.

Nze Ray listed the swearing in of all members of the party executives at the Local Government levels as the first responsibility of the party chairmen and carrying out Reconciliation at the Local government levels and fishing out persons who may want to play anti party as the second and third responsibilities of the party newly sworn-in 27 party LG chairmen.

"if you strongly suspect that any member of the local government exco is involved in any anti Party activities, you may not suspend the person because you do not have the powers but you may step down the swearing-in of the person until you get clearance from the state exco" stated Nze Ray.

The highlight of the meeting was the taking of oath of allegiance and oath of office which was conducted and read out by the former Secretary to the state government, Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeagucha who also encouraged and advised the newly sworn-in 27 party LG chairmen to work diligently for the overall interest of the party while assuring them that being in opposition was only but a temporary set back.

Mrs. Chinyere Okoro, the newly sworn-in party chairman for Orlu Local government Area gave the votes of thanks on behalf of all the newly sworn-in 27 Local Government party chairmen. In her votes of thanks, she expressed joy and happiness on the successful swearing-in exercise and promised to reciprocate the confidence reposed on them by the party.

"I thank the party for finding us worthy, we promise to work hard and never disappoint or let you down. If the people who were before us have tried but we will all try more than them." she assured.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by all the state party exco, party House members represented by the House minority leader - Hon. Barr. Anyadike Nwosu and Former Deputy Speaker - Hon. Barr. Okey Onyekanma, PDP elders Council represented by the Secretary - Barr. Peter Mgbeawule (Dom-Dom), former commissioner of health Hon. Dr. Vin Udokwu, former secretary to the state government - Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, Hon. Sir. Bon Unachukwu amongst others.
