Man bags jail term for attempting to steal

A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State today convicted and sentenced a 23-year-old man, Akanmu Rasheed to 3 months imprisonment for attempting to steal.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused person entered the house of one Akinsipe Emmanuel at Zone 9, Oke Arugbo, Osogbo on 5th of January in an attempt to steal the properties of the owner of the house.

Abiodun explained that the accused person jumped the fence to gain access to the premises

He said the offence committed by the accused person was in contrary to and punishable Under Section 509 and 412 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.

The accused person pleaded guilty and his lawyer, Ibrahim Abu pleaded with the court to mitigate the punishment of the accused person.

Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku sentenced the accused person to 3 month imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine.
