The Federal Government has been asked to redouble its efforts towards ensuring that poverty is wiped out of the country.

National Coordinator, CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade in an interactive session with journalists in Warri, Sunday, emphasized that the prevailing harsh economic situation in the country and indeed other parts of the world, requires the best professional approach to deal with.

The Center called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps at curbing the pandemic and hunger by reducing unemployment and ameliorating the prevailing economic downturn in the country.

The Niger Delta based Non-Governmental Organization, advised the Federal Government to work with indigenous economists to create obligatory planning guidelines that can help to lower the high poverty level in the country.

The Center also advised that measures to eradicate poverty should be put in place and publicized through effective public awareness campaigns.

The NGO however appealed to Nigerians to be patient with government to enable it find the best ways out of the nation's economic challenges, imploring them to acquire skills or learn trades that would empower them economically.
