Delta Water Resources Commissioner Identifies Causes Of Poor Work Delivery
Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Sir Fidelis Tilije has identified lack of consistent, effective supervision and monitoring as critical factors necessitating shoddy job delivery.
Sir Tilije, who stated this in his office in Asaba during the official handing over ceremony of two hilux vehicles and motorcycles procured by the UNICEF to its consultants in ukwuani and Ethiope East local government areas for the UNICEF/EU WASH Support programme said that vehicles would ease their operations especially in the supervision of UNICEF water schemes.
The Commissioner commended UNICEF and EU for supporting the Okowa administration in improving the quality of the water service delivery and urged the consultant to the make the best use of the vehicles .
In their separate remarks, the Delta state WASH consultant for UNICEF project, Mr. Onyewuenyi Didacus, consultant for Ukwuani, Mr. Titus Poolson and his counterpart in Ethiope East, Mr. Nyamve Matthew who said that vehicles would be utilized for the purpose they were meant, lauded the for and Delta state government for giving them the opportunity to serve.
They said that they had been working in communities in Delta state in the WASH project to ensure that virtually all communities in the state were open defecation free.
Mr. Didacus onyewuenyi particularly stated that the peogramme was designed towards improving sanitation and hygiene activities in the society, adding that they UNICEF prigramme was being carried out in Ukwuani, Ethiope East, Isoko North and Ndokwa west local government councils in the state.
In another development, Sir Fidelis Tilije has admonished the Delta State Urban Water Board and other parastatals of the ministry to maximize the utilization of the equipment and machines in thw water board workshop to enhance the internally generated revenue.
Sir Tilije gave the advice when he led other staff of the ministry to inspect offices, equipment at the water board shortly after declaring open, a three day capacity building on data infrastructure and management.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Mrs Felicia Adun expressed satisfaction with what he saw on ground and enjoined participants at the training to take it seriously.
Speaking to newsmen, the General Manager of the Delta State Urban Water Board, Engr. Nosa Okoh assured the commissioner of his led water board readiness more than ever before to impact on Deltans, adding that he would leave the place better than how he met it.
Earlier, data infrastructure management expert, Mr. Tony Esogwa said that data management was very important in today's world and commended the European Union for impacting positively on the lives of the populace in the developing and third world countries particularly in the water sector.
