The governor also while going round the projects sites inspecting ongoing works and clearance expressed satisfaction with the efforts and commitment of the staff of the government ministry and parastatal handling the reconstruction works and clearance of roads, streets and refuse.

He also commended the contractors handling the construction of Bama ultra modern market as well as the labourers and youths vanguard handling the rebuilding works and clearance while also appreciating the sacrifices of the security agents in Bama particularly, the military, Mopol, Civilian JTF, Hunters and Civil Defence Corps.

Shettima assured that his government will do everything possible within its capacity to ensure that Bama town is rebuilt and IDPs returned back to their homes within the shortest time possible.

According to him, all machinery have been put in place and geared towards ensuring that Bama is rebuilt and people returned to their homes, resettled and continue their life comfortably.

Governor Shettima noted that apart from the reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of the town and people, the state government has set aside poverty alleviation programmes to empower both the youths and women through skills acquisition and youths and women entrepreneurship schemes.

He said already government had procured enough implements, equipments, harvesters, ploughing machines as well as seedlings and seeds to also boost agricultural production of the rural farmers and fishermen among others.

He however appealed to the people not to hesitate to give out useful information to the nearest security agents on any suspect or suspicious movement of unscrupulous elements in their midst.

The governor also assured the people that government will continue to do its best to provide security to lives and property of the citizens of the state as a fundamental responsibility of the government.

"But government alone can not provide adequate security without the full support and cooperation of the people for government to deliver hence security is the job or duty of everybody or individual in the society anywhere he or she lives", Shettima asserted.

He had earlier declared his intention to also visit Gwoza town of Gwoza LGA and Lassa village of Askira- Uba LGA of borno state who are also adversely affected by the boko haram wanton destruction of property and killings of innocent lives in the past with a view to assess extent of damage of public and private property and commence reconstruction works immediately after those of Bama town having declared that, " my intention is to ensure that all the IDPs at the resettlement centers or camps in Maiduguri and else where to return to their homes or communities before May 29, 2016.Insha Allah as we have put all machinery and logistics on ground towards realising our mission using the little resources we have judiciously and transparently as we intend to give account of everything we that spend on every project we do as a government as we will be held responsible", Shettima added.
