MIKEL'S REPLACEMENT: AJILORE BEST OPTION – NWOSU

Former captain of Green Eagles, Henry Nwosu, has lamented the shock exit of Mikel Obi from Nigeria's squad to the 2010 World Cup, which kicks off Friday, through injury, saying that Eagles would miss him especially against Argentina.

The Eaglets former chief coach in a telephone interview also lamented the choice of Brown Ideye as Mikel's replacement, when a good midfielder like Oluwafemi Ajilore is fit.

He was full of thanks to God Almighty that the injury to Mikel came when a replacement could be made and asked Lagerback to change his game plan immediately to suit the new entrant.

' It could have been worst for Nigeria if the injury to Mikel happened when no replacement would been effected.'

Let me be frank with you, Eagles would miss Mikel in South Africa especially in their opening match against Argentina.

' You know the Argentines play fast pace football and their opponents need a player in Mikel's class who can slow them down. Be that as it may, I want to believe that the coach knows that this scenario is not peculiar to Eagles alone, other countries are losing their stars through injury and they are making replacements accordingly. In my opinion, I would have loved to see a player like Oluwafemi Ajilore as a replacement for Mikel.
