JIDE VERSACE, SOCIALITE ARRESTED FOR DRUG

He was arrested in Cork, Republic of Irland early this month.
A statement from Garda press, an intenational news agency, said Mr. Osayemi was arrested following the discovery of five kilo of cocaine on him with street value of £350,00, about N66 million.

He was reportedly arrested by security operatives from the Drug Unit of Cork Anglisea St. Garda Station around 8.45p.m on Saturday December 2,2006.

Mr. Osayemi, in his early 40's, is a popular Nigerian socalite with international connections and he has been living in Europe for some time now.

If found guilty, he risks being sent behind bars for up to 10 years. A Garda newswire sporksman, said Mr. Osayemi was detained under drug trafficking law at Mayfield station before prosecution.

Osayemi hails from Ekiti State, but stayed in Ibadan and Lagos for his early adult life before sojourning abroad.
