Abuja DisCo Commissions N200 Million Power Network Monitoring Equipment

By The Nigerian Voice

Assorted ultra-modern power network monitoring equipment worth over N200 million procured by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) was yesterday officially commissioned at the company’s G. 42 Injection Substation (Taleveras) in the Central Business District area of Abuja, Leadership reports.

The Managing Director/CEO of AEDC, Engr Ernest Mupwaya noted that one of the major challenges faced especially in the FCT is that the distribution network is underground, adding that because of that, the engineers face a lot of challenges in terms of cable vandalisation and faults which have taken them several hours and even days to fix, and in the course of that customers are denied access to electricity over long periods of time.

He, however, noted that with the modern fault locating equipment, portions of underground cables which were faulty could be pinpointed within 30 minutes. The AEDC boss who put the total value of the investment in the advanced equipment in the region of N200 million, also disclosed that infra-red cameras, computerized applications for real-time data and quality analyzers had also been procured.
