Men bag two months jail term for missing trial

Two men, Sunny Oladele 30 and Esambo Kehinde 25, have been sentenced to two months imprisonment each for missing their trial before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State.

Prosecutor, Fatoba Temitope told the court that the duo intentionally disrespected the court by failing to appear when their case was called.

He said the accused persons were being charged before the court on a one count of stealing and that their offence contravened section 133(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Looking remorseful, the accused persons who had no legal representative, pleaded guilty to the offence levelled against them.

Magistrate Adenike Olowolagba, in his ruling, sentenced the duo to two months imprisonment with a fine option of N3,000 each.
