Wife Battery: Deji may be deposed, faces criminal prosecution

Feelers from Akure the Ondo state capital indicate that the Deji of Akure, Oba Oluwadare Adeshina may soon face deposition and criminal charges for wife battery and attempted murder.

Pointblanknews.com learnt the police has taken statements from both the Deji and his battered wife while the council of chiefs  has been deliberating over the disgraceful conduct of the monarch.

The Elemo of Akure, Chief Bolanle Adedipe, who confirmed this Friday said” “I can confirm to you that we have since been meeting over the issue. The process that would lead to his deposition is also on course. We will make our decision known to the general public very soon.

  “What fair hearing is he expecting from us? we have established the fact that he was picked up from a gutter when he was fighting openly with his wife in the full glare of his subjects.

“We have also established the fact that his beads were picked from the gutter by the policemen who whisked him away from the scene after he had bathed his wife with acid. Such a king is a disgrace and he must go,” he  said. 

The monarch had attacked his wife, Bolanle in public, and bathing her with substance suspected to be diluted acid.

 Ondo State police boss, Mr. Magaji Nasarawa, has visited the estranged wife of the Deji, Bolanle Adesina, on her hospital bed at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, while there is visible presence of policemen in the town.
