Tragedy in Sokoto as 30 including newly-wed die in accident

Tragedy struck in Sokoto state on Sunday when a  Toyota Spora vehicle  conveying a newly-wed couple collided with a truck along Kware-Gwadabawa road. in According to reports,   30 persons lost their lives in that incident.

Reports cite  eyewitness accounts as saying that  the truck was coming from Illela local government area of Sokoto when one of its tyres busted and the driver lost control  as the vehicle  rammed into the Spora which was coming from Kware local government.

The victims were noted to be mostly women, children and elderly people.

According to spokesman the Sokoto state Sector Command of the Federal Road Saftety Corps,  Aliyu Kanya,   the accident was caused by over speeding.

He however put the casualty figure at  20 dead with 12 others including the bride sustaining various degrees of injuries.

He said that the injured ones were responding to treatment at the hospital.
