The Member Representing Onitsha South One Constituency, Hon Paddy Aniunoh has denied ever making the statement or granting the interview which referred to the state of Onitsha roads, attributed to him by the Correspondent of Awka based religious newspaper.

Aninunoh referred to the said report captioned, “Impassable Nature of Onitsha South Road Worries Aniunoh…Beckons on Obiano,” as the figment of the imagination of the reporter whom he said may have credited another person’s opinion to him.

Said Hon Aniunoh,” I am a member of the state Legislature and have reasonable idea about the appropriations for roads, and the efforts of the Governor of Anambra state, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano to ensure that roads across the state receive adequate attention. So I couldn’t have made such a statement laced with mischief. Rather, I commend the commitment of the executive whose cordial relationship with us in the legislature is yielding positive results for ndi Anambra.”

Aninunoh called for responsible journalism devoid of ‘faction’ but strict adherence to factual reporting which will aid development of the state. I have no reason to expect the said report would be credited to me because I didn’t hold such opinion.
