Healthcare Scheme : Ministry Appoints Emir Of Minna Champion, Solicits Royal Support, Blessings
Health that is often equated to Wealth and summing-it-up with the radical political-will of Governor Sani Bello in remolding the sector, the Niger Ministry of Health 33-persons’ constituted Technical Working Group on Healthcare Financing that was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mustapha Jibril in early March 2017 has continued to ensure all stakeholders are brought on board towards actualizing it mandate, as well to ensure that, the targets, Nigerlites are reached.
The group under the chairmanship of the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Makusidi M.M was on Wednesday, 26th April, 2017 at the palace of his Royal Highness, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Farouq Bahago, CON on an advocacy visit, as well, appoint him a CHAMPION of the scheme while they soliciting for his Royal support and blessings.
Presenting a letter, appointing his Royal Highness CHAMPION OF THE SCHEME, Dr. Makusidi described the Emir, a father, bridge builder and mediator, while noting that, the role of traditional rulers and their institutions cannot be over emphasized in virtually all spheres of life, domains and most especially in preserving and protecting the cultural identity, norms, laws and values of that people.
Quoting Ndidi Chukwu of Health Reporters “the committee will among many others ; review the state healthcare financing, equity and investment policy and also develop implementation strategies, develop guidelines for exemption of payments for health services in public health establishment”.
Adding, Ndidi reported that “the TWG is also to harmonize the basic healthcare package for the state (WMHCP-NHIS), organize advocacy, sensitization, awareness and community mobilization on contributory health scheme and develop a framework for effective partnership and collaboration with the private sector for health including health investment and resource mobilization”.
In his remarks, the Royal Father, thanked the Ministry for entrusting him with such a service-inclined responsibility. The Royal Father then, wholeheartedly applauded the credibility of the inspiring scheme, as well, commended the exemplary leadership style of Governor Sani Bello’s led administration while assuring the ministry, by extension the technical working group of his broad-based readiness to ensure the group’s mission and mandate is actualized for the benefit of Nigerlites, residence and humanity at large.
