SAN FRANCISCO, April 19, (THEWILL) – The Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting could not hold today, Wednesday , as a result of the Easter break, which did not allow the council secretariat time to prepare and circulate memos to ministers.

This was the explanation of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who added that, “it is not a rubber stamp council so everyone must prepare themselves well for debates”.

According to him, “The staff on the Council secretariat resumed on Tuesday after the Easter. There was no time to prepare and circulate memos to ministers.

“By practice, the ministers receive council memos two or three days ahead of meetings because they must read them and sometimes undertake research.”

It would be recalled that the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari at last week’s Cabinet meeting sparked fresh speculations about his health condition.

But the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, at that time explained that Buhari had to attend to “other issues” because the issues on the agenda of the meeting were ''light''.

Insisting that the “President is not ill again” as is being rumoured, he argued that the fact that Buhari was not in the office did not mean he was not working.
