The Commission for Health, Delta State, Dr Nicolas Azinge has hailed the Aniocha North local government chairman Hon. Chuks Oseme for providing staff clinic to the council workers in the secreatriat.

Dr Azinge gave the commendation Friday during the official commissioning of the staff clinic at the council secretariat in Issele-Uku Aniocha North local government area.

The commissioner who express joy for the project, said that the project is one of the cardinal point of Okowa's SMART agenda.

“The clinic is well equipped, it has mini- laboratory, it has pharmacy with drugs and well consulting one and the waiting area with the bed in case of serious case before transferring to the big health care centre. And their blood pressure equipment is good one, I just check my blood pressure today, they scale weight, so is a very good project”.

“So, I advise all the staff of the local government to use the opportunity for their routine check-up even though they are not sick especially those that above forty years old”.

“Today, we are here to witness the commissioning of staff clinic, this is a noble project that worthy of emulation and to be appreciated because not all local government at this time of recession that can create or put this type of project through”.

In his address, the chairman of the council, Hon Oseme, said the health of the workers is his priority, saying that “health is wealth”.

He said that the clinic would help employees stay healthy by offering on-site preventive test and screening, thus, encourage healthful habits.

Oseme said that the clinic was established to provide primary health-care to employees of the council, noting that it would supplement rather than replace the employee's doctors.

The chairman who assured the staff of sustainability of the clinic, noted that he has taken proactive measures in setting-up an accountability mechanism to ensure that the clinic remain functional in spite of the economic recession facing local government.

“We have also taken proactive measures to ensure that this clinic remain functional as the Department continues to lead the way in being innovative by providing basic healthcare service for the Local Government workforce”, he assured.

He stressed that healthcare service is one of the key point and SMART agenda of Okowa's administration, saying, “I was very smart to key in, just like taping into your father's dream. So, Governor Okowa is a father and he wishes a good healthcare service to all Deltans”.
